5 Ways To Celebrate Brighton & Hove Pride

Pride Flag blowing in the wind against a blue but cloudy sky

The annual Brighton & Hove Pride Festival is dedicated to uplifting the LGBTQ+ community and celebrating wonderful diversity. Widely considered to be one of the best pride festivals in the world, the colourful, fun event takes place in the vibrant coastal city during the weekend of 6-7 August 2022.

On GayAdultChat – the UK’s most popular gay phone chat line service – you can connect with genuine guys 24/7, and make plans to meet up at the Pride Festival.

Whether you’re gay and proud, exploring your sexuality, or supporting a LGBTQIA+ friend or family member, here are 5 ways to help get you into the spirit of love, joy and self-expression during this spectacular celebration…

  1. Educate Yourself

If you want to enjoy a fully immersive Pride experience, educating yourself about the origins and history of Pride is a great place to start.

Research the Stonewall Riots in Greenwich Village, New York, and learn all about the movement that paved the way for modern day LGBTQ+ rights.

Binge watch LGBTQIA+ movies, TV shows and documentaries, and read some of the popular non-fiction queer culture history books. Check out the most important pieces of literature, including The Gay Revolution: The Story of the Struggle (Lillian Faderman), We Are Everywhere (Matthew Riemer & Leighton Brown) and Transgender History: The Roots of Today’s Revolution (Susan Stryker).

  1. Attend Brighton & Hove Pride

Lots of cities all over the world host Pride parades during the official Pride Month of June, with additional celebrations held in July, August and September. The Brighton & Hove Pride Festival – to honour the fearless trailblazers of the gay rights movement and the LGTBQ+ community – has long become an iconic must-attend event.

The theme for 2022’s 30th anniversary Brighton & Hove Pride LGBTQ+ Community Parade is ‘Love – Protest – Unity’. The parade is the highlight of the weekend, and showcases an all-singing, all-dancing colourful carnival that is supported by many of the city’s community groups, charities and small businesses.

If you’ve made some new friends, on the UK’s busiest gay phone chat line service, you can arrange to hook up with them at the Pride Village Party in Kemptown. Have fun exploring the lively bars, venues and entertainment zones together, and enjoy performances by musicians, DJs, artists, and outrageous and flamboyant drag queens. Whilst you’re immersed in the real sensory experience of Brighton & Hove Pride, you’re likely to rub shoulders with 300,000 people, including famous celebrities and influencers.

If you’re not able to attend the unmissable event, you can always host your own at-home Pride Festival. Get together with family and friends for a ‘Love – Protest – Unity’ themed party. Hang up colourful decorations, serve tasty rainbow coloured finger foods and cocktails, and turn up the volume of your favourite disco anthems.

  1. Support LGBTQIA+ Arts & Culture

Another great way to develop an understanding of the LGBTQ+ experience is through the medium of arts and culture. You can visit an LGBTQIA+ art gallery or museum, watch a marathon of influential movies, and read and discuss queer current affair topics that reflect on the evolution of Pride and what it symbolises for all people, with your friends.

  1. Become An Ally

Not everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community has experienced the expression of sexuality as a positive milestone life event. Loved ones don’t always respond in a supportive and nurturing way to a declaration that they may find surprising, confusing or uncomfortable.

To celebrate and honour Brighton & Hove Pride, consider sharing your personal experience with others who may be going though an emotionally charged time. You can become a LGBTQIA+ ally by getting involved with a community organisation or cause that you care about. Donate your time and energy by volunteering, or commit to raising money for the Brighton Rainbow Fund and Pride Social Impact Fund.

  1. Connect With Like-Minded People

You don’t have to miss out on the fun, if you live quite a distance from Brighton and are not able to attend the iconic Pride Festival this year. Connect easily with like-minded people via phone or text. Once you create a profile on GayAdultChat you can flirt and enjoy live 1-2-1 gay chat with thousands of real men all over the UK.

During the weekend of 6-7 August 2022, send flirty messages to every hot and horny gay, bi-curious and straight guy who catches your eye, and explore the possibilities. The more messages you send, the quicker you’ll be able to fill up your personal dating voice mailbox. As the service is private and totally anonymous, you can let go of inhibitions and fully express your sexuality, and sexual desires.
